The mission statement, benefits provided, and programs and services offered bind each uniquely different district of our FOSA into a dynamic natural resource conservation entity.

Our Mission

The districts of the Clay/Jackson FOSA are dedicated to conservation and wise use of soil, water, and the related natural resources of our environment.  To accomplish this mission, we promote the establishment of soil and water conservation practices on agricultural and urban land by providing technical services, incentive programs, and information/education efforts.

The Benefits

All segments of society benefit from FOSA programs.  Erosion control practices and structures reduce the amount of sediment entering road ditches, streams, and lakes thus lowering the cost of sediment removal.  Controlling erosion helps maintain soil fertility which minimizes the cost of food production and ultimately the price consumers pay for food.  Reduced soil erosion enhances water quality by lowering the amount of silt and accompanying pollutants entering streams and lakes.  Effective water management helps
prevent flooding of agricultural and urban lands.  Information/education efforts for students and adults promote stewardship of our environment.
